Blue Diaper Syndrome is a rare, inherited metabolic disorder characterized
in infants by bluish urine-stained diapers. The incomplete intestinal breakdown of tryptophan, a dietary nutrient, causes
this disorder. Symptoms typically include digestive disturbances, fever, and visual difficulties. Some children with Blue
Diaper Syndrome may also develop kidney disease. Blue Diaper Syndrome is inherited as an autosomal recessive genetic trait.
